Job Description

Hours: 8.00-17:00 Monday  – Friday as well as on a pro rata basis working both late shifts and weekends

Reports to: Hotel or Property Manager

Liaises with: Client, Hotel or Property Manager/ Supervisor, Housekeeping Staff.

Main Purposes of the Job

To carry out maintenance repairs on a daily basis. Following through on any repairs requests from staff or guests, report any failed / damaged equipment to line Manager. To carry out preventative maintenance, to highlight and assist in resolving any potential health and safety issues.

Key Accountabilities :

Duties and Responsibilities

  • To undertake minor items of repair and maintenance to the fabric of both accommodations for the benefit and safety of guests. Including the minor repair of fixtures and fittings including desks, tables, chairs, cracked tiles, silicone in bathroom areas as appropriate.
  • Responsible for all planned preventative maintenance on site, including but not limited to proactive and reactive work.
  • To assist with minor plumbing including unblocking sinks and drains. Must be able to trace water leaks and carry out first time fixes.
  • To deal with minor repairs where necessary as instructed by the Manager or staff.
  • To deal with minor electrical repairs and fixings.
  • Responsible for reviewing the PAT testing and maintenance of all electrical equipment on site.
  • Regularly check external areas for any potential danger to people on site.
  • Assist with deliveries and general portage duties.
  • Support with other cleaning duties as and when required.

Key Competencies

  • Competent at basic building repairs and maintenance.
  • Use of small industrial/electrical/mechanical equipment.
  • Knowledge of health and safety procedures and precautions, including COSHH regulations and an awareness of health and hygiene procedures.
  • Literacy and Numeracy skills sufficient to check delivery notes, measurements etc.
  • Able to regularly handle/carry items.
  • Basic knowledge of plumbing and electrics is essential.
  • Able to perform electrical plumbing and carpentry tasks.

Physical Effort

At certain points of the day the post holder will be expected to undertake bending, lifting and stretching in the course of their duties e.g. minor maintenance work, remedial painting and decorating, repairs to fixing, receiving deliveries of goods and equipment, setting out and putting away furniture. Due to the nature of the post there will be an expectation that the post holder will be exposed to dirt and dust which on occasions, for example adverse weather conditions, may be higher than normal.

Salary – £20-£25k depending on experience and qualifications.

Having a clean full driving licence will be an advantage and also being able to organise and source building materials.

  • At least 3 years experience as a Hotel General Manager (within 3 or 4 star businesses) and preferably with experience in London West End hotels. Proven revenue management skills

  • Possess the know-how, confidence and most importantly the contacts and experience necessary to build corporate and private sales
  • Be confident and fluent in revenue financials of RevPAR, ARR, Occupancy rates

As the custodian of our financial models you will gain the key insights into these questions and form a key part of the Commercial Team and help work with the Franchisee to shape and support the business to achieve its ambitious growth targets of doubling profits in the next 5 years. This is the time to join – as we explore new options to drive breakthrough results the ability to deliver accurate, dynamic models to support the business needs becomes ever more important.

You will draw on previous experience in preparing and reviewing detailed Management Accounts, cash flows, balance sheet analysis and complex financial modelling and business strategy to streamline our current processes and gather input from cross functional department, to ensure we hit our targets and help the Franchisee to make even bigger and better decisions which increase profitability and make the business more efficient.

Working with the existing finance team to lead and build financial processes for the business:

  • AOP/QxF Masters and supporting models
  • Preparing and reviewing monthly Management Accounts
  • Preparing and Reviewing cash flow forecasts
  • Preparing and reviewing commentary to Management Accounts
  • Attending monthly meetings with the ops team to review Management accounts vs. budget
  • Providing quarterly financial covenants analysis and reporting to Franchisee and once approved, to the Bank to comply with loan requirements.
  • Suggesting improvements that can be made to the business
  • Liaising with the Asset Protection Officer
  • Reviewing and enhancing cross section of accounting function so as to be more efficient.
  • Liaising with Payroll department
  • Implementing new IT software and programs so as to be more efficient
  • Analytical review of all areas of business expenditure with cost saving plans / incentives
  • Performance tracking model

  • 5-yr Plan strategy model
  • Present the Company Financial Plan to the Franchisee and recommend solutions, alternatives and plans to meet business targets
  • Key contact for Banks, Auditors, Lawyers and KFC queries/requests
  • Support the Franchisee and General Manager on strategic initiatives
  • Financial analysis of and insight to Company performance, manage Period end executive summary process, attendance of period end meetings with Financial Controller and Franchisee to challenge business performance and agree actions
  • Continuous improvement of modelling process
  • Ad hoc financial analysis and project work as required
  • Business Partner to Ops and the Franchisee – working with teams to prepare business cases, cost savings identification and implementation and partner on projects
