Job Description

Hours: 8.00 – 7:00 Monday – Friday as well as on a pro rata basis working both late shifts and weekends

Reports to: Hotel or Property Manager

Liaises with: Client, Hotel or Property Manager/ Supervisor, Housekeeping Staff.

Main Purposes of the Job

To carry out maintenance repairs on a daily basis. Following through on any repairs requests from staff or guests, report any failed / damaged equipment to line Manager. To carry out preventative maintenance, to highlight and assist in resolving any potential health and safety issues.

Key Accountabilities :

Duties and Responsibilities

  • To undertake minor items of repair and maintenance to the fabric of both accommodations for the benefit and safety of guests. Including the minor repair of fixtures and fittings including desks, tables, chairs, cracked tiles, silicone in bathroom areas as appropriate.
  • Responsible for all planned preventative maintenance on site, including but not limited to proactive and reactive work.
  • To assist with minor plumbing including unblocking sinks and drains. Must be able to trace water leaks and carry out first time fixes.
  • To deal with minor repairs where necessary as instructed by the Manager or staff.
  • To deal with minor electrical repairs and fixings.
  • Responsible for reviewing the PAT testing and maintenance of all electrical equipment on site.
  • Regularly check external areas for any potential danger to people on site.
  • Assist with deliveries and general portage duties.
  • Support with other cleaning duties as and when required.

Key Competencies

  • Competent at basic building repairs and maintenance.
  • Use of small industrial/electrical/mechanical equipment.
  • Knowledge of health and safety procedures and precautions, including COSHH regulations and an awareness of health and hygiene procedures.
  • Literacy and Numeracy skills sufficient to check delivery notes, measurements etc.
  • Able to regularly handle/carry items.
  • Basic knowledge of plumbing and electrics is essential.
  • Able to perform electrical plumbing and carpentry tasks.

Physical Effort

At certain points of the day the post holder will be expected to undertake bending, lifting and stretching in the course of their duties e.g. minor maintenance work, remedial painting and decorating, repairs to fixing, receiving deliveries of goods and equipment, setting out and putting away furniture. Due to the nature of the post there will be an expectation that the post holder will be exposed to dirt and dust which on occasions, for example adverse weather conditions, may be higher than normal.

Salary – £20-£25k depending on experience and qualifications.

Having a clean full driving licence will be an advantage and also being able to organise and source building materials.

We are recruiting an experienced ‘hands on’ Hotel Manager, with proven professional skills in sales building and financial management, to manage our hotel in Central London. We now require a strong leader to help build on the business’s excellent reputation by securing and retaining new business with a focus on the corporate sector. It is an excellent opportunity for a current GM who wants just a little bit more from their career.

To be successful in this role, you will need to fulfil the following:

  • At least 3 years experience as a Hotel General Manager (within 3 or 4 star businesses) and preferably with experience in London West End hotels. Proven revenue management skills
  • Strong F&B operations skills and experience in local marketing to drive F&B sales
  • Possess the know-how, confidence and most importantly the contacts and experience necessary to build corporate and private sales
  • Be confident and fluent in revenue financials of RevPAR, ARR, Occupancy rates
  • Have proven skills and experience in the day to day running of a hotel, gaining and retaining the respect of staff, and creating a management presence which customers can easily identify.
  • Good Knowledge of Brands
