We began in 2004 with the acquisition of 11 KFC stores — and haven’t looked back. Since then, we’ve grown organically and through multiple acquisitions, including bundles from Yum, thanks to our proven track record and stable leadership.

The KFC Story

Plenty of folks asked Colonel Sanders how come the whole world loves his chicken. His response was: ‘I’m guessing they can’t have tried it, since they would already know the answer. It’s my delicious Original Recipe of eleven herbs and spices.’

He would watch them eat every last morsel and then lick their fingers clean for good measure. That’s when ‘Finger Lickin’ Good’ was born. He knew there and then that he had created something truly special.

In 1965, the first KFC restaurant opened in Preston, UK. Currently there are over 1000 restaurants throughout the UK.

All our Original Recipe Chicken on the bone is sourced from British and Irish farms and delivered fresh to our restaurants.

KFC is the world’s most popular chicken restaurant chain, specializing in our famous Original Recipe® fried chicken. It all started with one cook who created a finger lickin’ good recipe more than 75 years ago, a list of secret herbs and spices scratched out on the back of the door to his kitchen.

That cook was Colonel Harland Sanders, of course, and today we still follow his formula for success, with real cooks breading and freshly preparing our delicious chicken by hand in more than 20,000 restaurants in more than 125 countries.
