Our Chairman, Mohammed Adil, is a true Entrepreneur. He was the first Asian Franchisee of the then prestigious Wimpy Brand in 1969. The Adil Group acquired its first Wimpy restaurant in 1969 which was situated on Ealing Road, Wembley. Mohammed had the foresight to be the pioneer by entering into the franchise business and identifying opportunities for rapid growth. He realised that people had less time, wanted convenience and variety and therefore fast food was here to stay.
Mohammed’s current role as Chairman is to guide the growth strategy of the business going forward and to ensure the ethos of The Adil Group remains true. Mohammed plays a strong role within the community and supports a number of charitable organisations, both within the UK and abroad.
Mohammed was awarded an OBE in the 2018 New Years Honours list for services to Business, job creation and charity.
Raja Adil is a second generation franchisee who started working in his family business, which was a Wimpy franchise from a young age. He subsequently completed University and went on to qualify as a solicitor in a large City law firm. Upon joining the business full time, Raja embarked upon a diversification strategy and in 2004 became a KFC franchisee by acquiring 12 restaurants in the Midlands. Not content with just operating Burger King and KFC, Raja continued his drive for new ventures and became a Costa Coffee franchisee in 2007.
Under his leadership, The Adil Group has seen expediential growth both in terms of organic new store openings as well as by way of acquisition. The Adil Group are leading franchisees for KFC, Burger King, Costa Coffee, having recently opened their first Taco Bell and soon to be Anytime Fitness Gym. In addition, The Adil Group own and operate four hotels under their own brand being Maitrise Hotels Limited and have further diversified their property holdings by acquiring leisure/retail parks.
Zahair Adil assists with the day to day operations of the Adil Group’s Burger King business primary focussed on ensuring management and staff are focussed so that the customer gets a great experience every time they visit one of our stores and the business excels in delivery brand standards.
Outside of work, Zahair is a committed hands on family man who enjoys spending time with his young family. Zahair is a keen sportsman and pursues what to anyone else would seem like a gruelling fitness regime. He is also an avid follower of his beloved Arsenal Football team.

Previous position: I have been in private practice since 1969 and acted for The Adil Family pretty much since that time. During this time, I have seen the business grow from one Wimpy bar to the multi Franchise business it is today.
What excites me about this role: I enjoy working with honest hard working clients like The Adil Family and seeing them realise their ambitions. It is a very satisfying feeling.
Hobbies: I like reading, football and the occasional game of golf.
I have been a member of audit and accounts team at Hurkan Sayman & Co and worked with the Adil Group since 2012. Over the last 5 years I have seen the Adil Group grow at a tremendous rate and it has been an exciting process to observe.
Mohammed Adil and his son Raja, are amongst the most inspirational Directors that I have had the pleasure of working with and they have redefined the way in which I look at business. They have built a very strong team that have supported their expansions and lead this team by example.
The potential of The Adil Group is endless and I look forward to seeing the Group continuing to grow and working with the World’s strongest brands in delivering their goals.
Chris Shelbourne studied Economics at Cambridge University and then started his professional career with Coopers and Lybrand (now PWC). He has been the Managing Director at a regional firm of Chartered Accountants for over 15 years and has overseen significant growth there. He has worked closely with Raja for 10 years, as a consultant to The Adil Group, providing advice and assistance with business acquisitions, financial management, and growth strategies. He says “I have always enjoyed working with Raja Adil as he has great ambitions and creates an entrepreneurial environment where there is always something happening”.

Working for the Adil Group gives me variety and autonomy, that no two days are the same. The entrepreneurial spirit of my adil colleagues excites me and allows me to build on the company’s legacy.

I am also a full time mum of a beautiful 4 year old so usually my spare time involves, parks, soft plays, the beach and lots of games with my little girl.
My first job was a news media outlet distributor. Some people might like to call it a newspaper delivery girl.. Honestly I prefer the first description.
There is never a dull day in the life of an Area Coach, it is challenging, it is testing but most of all so rewarding to be building and inspiring teams to success.
People ask why I have stayed 17 years at the same company, it’s simple… The people, the fact that I am part of the franchise family, the fact that I am part of an ever-growing expanding company, which I enjoy.
When I’m not working I like to spend time with my partner and my family. I have two babies, two young cats named Duchess and Prince, I never realized two cats could be so entertaining.
I have a passion for gardening and growing my own vegetables, I love the peace and tranquility it gives, the satisfaction when the flowers I have nurtured bloom.
